Unleashing the Power of Innovation: Stelios Awards 2023

Leonard Cheshire, in partnership with the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, proudly announces the winners of The Stelios Awards for Disabled Entrepreneurs 2023. At a prestigious awards event, the remarkable achievements of disabled individuals in entrepreneurship were celebrated. The awards support innovation by disabled entrepreneurs, empowering them to overcome barriers, create and expand thriving businesses.

This year’s awards ceremony honoured three exceptional winners: a brand marketing company, a butcher’s shop and a cutting-edge mobility solution.

The Stelios Awards offer a cash prize of £50,000 for the winner as well as £30,000 for second place and £20,000 for third. The cash prizes are designed to help the winners take their businesses to the next level by providing financial support for initiatives such as marketing, product development, and expansion. The money can be used for any business-related expenses that will help the entrepreneurs grow and develop their businesses.

The winners of The Stelios Awards 2023 are as follows:

1st Prize (£50,000): Cristian Brownlee of www.myadaptability.co.uk

2nd Prize (£30,000): Jon Hill of www.wearejackryan.com

3rd Prize (£20,000): Miles Nicholas of www.morgansbutchery.co.uk

Ruth Owen, CEO of Leonard Cheshire, expressed the organisation’s firm belief in amplifying the voices and talent of disabled people, stating:

“At Leonard Cheshire, we firmly believe that disabled people should not have to struggle to be heard or seen. The Stelios Awards for Disabled Entrepreneurs provide an invaluable opportunity for collaboration with like-minded individuals and organisations, including the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation and the hundreds of disabled entrepreneurs who share the vision and determination to establish successful businesses. This year’s applications showcased an extraordinary level of business talent in the UK and unwavering determination to succeed among disabled individuals. “

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation’s dedication to entrepreneurship and social impact has played a pivotal role in fostering an environment of inclusivity and recognition for disabled entrepreneurs.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou emphasized the significance of the awards, stating, “I never cease to be amazed by the ambition and resourcefulness of our winners. Their range of business activities is truly impressive – by putting together a butcher, a marketing genius and a wheelchair engineer into our closeknit family of award winners just goes to show the depth of talent in the UK’s disability community.

“Not content with relying on social benefits and being shut out of traditional nine-to-five employment, they’ve struck out on their own. I wish them every success and look forward to showcasing their businesses as the very best of what can be achieved.”
