Stelios Philanthropic Foundation donates £250,000 to the Royal College of Nursing Foundation to say thank you to the heroes of the front line against the pandemic COVID-19.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation have donated £250,000 to the Royal College of Nursing Foundation for 1,000 ‘Stelios Says Thank you Awards’ worth £250 each.

The RCN Foundation is working with the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation to make grants to the nursing team in London in order to thank them for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The RCN Foundation is committed to supporting and strengthening nursing.  They are part of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Group but you don’t have to be an RCN member to receive our support. As an independent charity, they are here for every member of the nursing and midwifery community.

The two Foundations are working together to offer awards of £250 to front line staff to thank them for their tireless work to keep our communities safe and well. To qualify for an award you must be a nurse, midwife or health care support worker, be living or working within the Greater London area & demonstrate how COVID-19 has had an adverse impact.  Preference will be given to those who have been more adversely affected by COVID-19. This will include, but not be limited to, those within lower pay bands. Individuals will only receive one grant from this fund.

The grants will be offered in line with the above criteria on a first come first served basis.

More details & an application form will be found at the RCN Foundation shortly.

Deepa Korea, RCN Foundation Director said  ‘Sir Stelios I want to say an enormous thank you for your support . I know it will make a massive difference to those who are caring for the nation’s health, often to the detriment of their own’.
